"Fairclough Fuel”: What’s in a Name?

The name of our company is “Fairclough Fuel.” Why? Because we have been owned and operated by the Fairclough family since way back in 1860!

But let’s look at the name “Fairclough Fuel” a bit further:

The name of our company contains the word “fuel” because we deliver a variety of fuels: heating oil, propane, kerosene, on- and off-road diesel, and even coal! If you live or work or manage a building in Sussex, Warren, Morris, Bergen, Essex and Hudson counties, we’ve got the fuels you need!

  • Heating oil: Clean, efficient, safe heating oil keeps you warm and cozy, and costs statistically less than other energy sources.

  • Propane: Versatile propane can be used in everything from pool heaters, gas grills, and generators to entire home heating systems. You can call our sister company, Fairclough Propane, for your propane deliveries.

  • Kerosene: Used to heat RVs and mobile homes, and to power portable lighting and cooking stoves, kerosene can also be used in commercial applications.

  • On-road, off-road and winter blend diesel fuel: On-road diesel is for vehicles like trucks and cars on public roads, while off-road diesel powers construction and agricultural equipment, generators, and stationary engines. Winter blend diesel contains additives to prevent gelling in cold weather.

  • Coal: Fairclough Fuel began as a coal company and we still deliver it today!

In addition to the word “fuel,” the name of our company also contains the word “fair.” And you can rest assured that our fuel prices and business practices are fair, honest, and ethical. After all, we wouldn’t be around for 166 years if we didn’t treat our loyal customers as if they were members of our own family!

PS: Our company name also contains the word “clough.” A clough is a narrow, steep-sided valley, ravine, or gorge, typically with a stream running through it. And it turns out you’ll find plenty of cloughs right here in Northern New Jersey!
